Runner Notes
Very rocky, as is typical in this area. Particularly dangerous when the autumn leaves are hiding them (like when I went).
Description
From the Trailhead off of Rt 27, Dutchman's Creek heads off from the east side of the parking area. This trail is well marked with yellow blazes along the way.
The trail rolls through the forest and crosses a couple of creeks. There are no stunning vistas, but being submersed in the forest in solitude is splendid.
There are a couple of interconnecting trails that can be used to create a loop including the
Uwharrie National Recreation Trail (white blazes) twice. The shorter version is outlined here in the
Uwharrie Romp and you can create a longer loop by going to the second intersection between these two trails.
When I was there, there were a good number of paper maps with the different trails on them to help and all of the interconnecting trails seemed to be blazed well enough to help with guidance.
Enjoy!
