When entering by Rockfish Gap onto Skyline Drive, head north until just past mile marker 90. On the left, there is a small parking lot to enter Rip Rap Trailhead.

Chimney Rock is an easily accessible run from mile marker 90 on Skyline Drive. To get to Chimney Rock, a short run with an amazing view from the rocks, simply take a right after running past the Riprap map trail sign and head up the mountain along the Riprap Trail.

There are small elevation gains throughout the run which is approximately 3.4 miles out and back. (It took about 1 hour 24 mins with a 15 min break for sightseeing at the rock for two ladies in their twenties). No creeks or rivers to view or pass. The trail is well maintained throughout the year.
