Description
This horse trail is used to access the historic site of the three cabins still standing at
Rapidan Camp. The trail descends with moderate roughness and a few creek crossings that are fairly easy to navigate. Start on this trail from
Rapidan Road to the north or from the
Mill Prong Trail to the west. Both options are just around a mile long.
After the
Mill Prong Trail joins the trail to the left, look for a small cascade to the right of the trail as it flows down the face of a sloping rock. Use caution when crossing the stream as some of the rocks may be slippery.
Continue along for a half mile until you can see and hear Big Rock Falls off to the left of the trail. One final quarter-mile stretch and the trail ends at
Camp Hoover Road.
