Description
The L'esperance Trail is a relatively long trail compared to most the others on the island, being 2.7 miles long. From the road, it descends quickly past an old ruin site and continues to stay steep for the first quarter to half mile. It then becomes more moderate and strolls through a forested area and through a wash. Around half way, there is a trail that veers right to the Sieben ruins. It loops through, past the Baobab tree, and back to the original trail which then leads down to the Reef Bay sugar plantation.
It is interesting to note how the foliage changes as you wind down to drier climate. At the bottom of the trail, there are pit toilets and good place to take a dip and cool off. Plan your trip accordingly, and make sure to bring along water and snacks!
