Overview
This out-and-back, up-and-down run makes for a terrific excursion just outside of San Bernardino and Rancho Cucamonga. The doubletrack
Etiwanda Falls Road heads due north out of the North Etiwanda Preserve toward the hills of the San Bernardino National Forest, ending at a small oasis surrounding the falls.
Runner Notes
Good for trail running!
Description
To get to the trailhead, drive to the top of Etiwanda Ave and park in the rocky lot. Run around the gate and start on the N. Etiwanda Preserve
Primary Trail Loop, going north and up the whole time. The lefthand turnoff continues the loop, however, for this run, stay on the
Etiwanda Falls Road to the north.
The fire road continues for another mile up along East Etiwanda Creek, until it culminates at the falls. Depending on the time of year and the precipitation, the falls can vary greatly in their intensity. Though it's no Niagra, this spot makes for a beautiful afternoon with cool water to relax in.
From the falls, head back the way you came, except this time around, it's all downhill.
