Runner Notes
Wide, crushed gravel trail. Steps have been built on the trail to aid erosion and for hikers, they tend to get slick when wet.
Description
The Whites Cave Trail is a wide trail that leads you from the Mammoth Cave Campground to the Green River area trails. The trail is mostly crushed gravel, making for easy navigation. The start is mostly flat, then transitions to downhill as you get closer to the other trails.
Since this trail is in close proximity to the Visitor Center, it is well maintained and has several steps built along the route.
The trail ends at an intersection with the
Sinkhole Trail. There are lots of options to create loops and explore the topside of Mammoth Cave.
Flora & Fauna
Kentucky old growth forest with ferns, hardwood trees, turkey and deer. Poison Ivy is also a real possibility.
