Description
Starting from the trailhead at
Sweet Connie (about 1.5 miles NW of the
Dry Creek trailhead on Bogus Basin Road), the trail gradually ascends the flank of Chukkar Butte, passing "Solo Tree". At the crest of the hill, proceed through the livestock gate (first of three - be sure to secure all gates, cattle actively graze here.) Crest the saddle, and gently descend the western flank. The trail here is narrow and rocky - watch your footing.
A short and steep descent to the watering hole (keep your dog away, water most likely dangerous for pets.) A few rolling hills as you proceed to the west, but generally downhill on sandy, dual-track trail.
Go through the second gate just below the power lines (red tail hawks roost here) and continue downhill on well-groomed sandy trails.
At the third gate (start of
Currant Creek Trail #75), bear left and continue downhill. Cross Cartwright Road, and push through the final descent to the lot on
Dry Creek road.
