Description
As you hop out of the car at the
Dingmans Falls Visitor Center, be prepared for a transformative experience amidst towering hemlock forests and magnificent falling waters.
Starting at the
Dingmans Falls Visitor Center, follow the well-marked boardwalk through verdant hemlock forests and lush rhododendron thickets to the first waterfall along the trail: Silverthread Falls.
Slipping through nearly 80 feet of sheer, smoothed stone, Silverthread Falls provides visitors with plenty of reason to pause and enjoy its simple, yet stunning nature.
Continuing along the trail, follow the boardwalk for three-tenths of a mile until reaching the trail's crown and namesake:
Dingmans Falls.
Dropping over 130 feet,
Dingmans Falls is currently the second-tallest waterfall in Pennsylvania. It certainly doesn't disappoint. Be sure to bring your camera along on your journey, as this cascade provides viewers with outstanding photo opportunities.
Flora & Fauna
Eastern hemlock forests dominate the canopy, while rhododendrons and their voluminous, colorful flowers prevail in the understory.
