The Reflection Lake Trail does not have trail signs. To find its trailhead, find the "
Lily Pond Trail" trail sign near the road with an arrow pointing to
Lily Pond Trail. Work your way west along the north side of the road, in the opposite direction of the signpost arrow. Reflection Lake is seen down a short, steep embankment next to the road, to the right. After about .15 miles there is a dirt road with a gate across it, on the right. Go around this gate and head directly towards Reflection Lake to pick up the Reflection Lake Trail on the shoreline of the lake.
Upon finding the trail on the shoreline, continue heading west northwest. In other words, basically head in the same direction that you went on the road but veering slightly north to follow the Reflection Lake shoreline. The trail follows the shoreline, clockwise around Reflection Lake, to end at
Lily Pond Trail, .5 miles from the Reflection Lake Trail starting point. Continue following the shoreline, now on
Lily Pond Trail, to complete the loop around Reflection Lake and return to the Reflection Lake Trail starting point.
There are no trail signs, so carefully look for, and follow the path that shows the signs of having been trod before.
At the west end of Reflection Lake and along its north shore, the views to the southeast are magnificent. Choas Crags, Mt. Lassen, and peaks nearby can be seen. Reflection Lake sparkles in the sun and is inhabited by Canadian geese.
Canadian geese.
