Description

While the first mile or so of this trail lacks a little luster, the destination of the lake makes it worth your time. A wide, well-maintained and easy to follow doubletrack takes runners down a mild grade, roughly south east toward the lake shore.Shortly before arriving at the lake, you'll pass a wetland area that is home to a bald eagle's nest. Stay on the trail through this section to avoid disturbing the bird's nesting habits.

When the trail comes out of the trees, you're treated to a view of Newman Lake and the surrounding mountains. Turtle Rock juts out over the lake and there is a beautiful grassy area by the lake and a native plant garden to enjoy. The trail then moves further south and slightly west, uphill to West Newman Lake Drive.

Join this trail with Bedrock Ridge for a lovely loop in either direction.
