Overview

This race is close enough to the surrounding metro areas but much more challenging than the events held there. On the other hand, it's much easier than the ACTUAL NC mountain courses, making this a perfect course for runners who want a do-able challenge.

Need to Know

Some technical downhills require proper trail shoes.

Description

The trails are very runnable, but challenging both technically and from an endurance perspective. I consider this an excellent entry level mountain trail race if you are seeking a little more climbing than you find in the lower Piedmont and the Charlotte area.
