Description
This relatively arduous and steady climb provides access to the top of Black Hawk Ridge. It meanders through relatively dense forests, but there are occasional views of the Wisconsin River valley off to the west, northwest, along with Sauk City. The views are even better in winter when the leaves are off of the trees.
Note: as an alternative route to the top of Black Hawk Ridge, one may choose to take Wachter Rd, that runs nearly parallel and to the west, southwest of this trail. This may be preferable when the trail is really icy in winter or muddy in early spring. Otherwise, this is a fun and challenging little climb.
