Overview
The original "Chute du Diable" (Devil's Fall) loop. Be ready for some serious climbing, roots and rocks hopping!
Need to Know
Bring water (no drinking water on site)
Runner Notes
Mostly runnable with some roots and rocks. 450m of elevation gain.
Description
Start under the arch located near the Amphitheater. Follow newly designed comprehensive trail maps. Be sure to stop and enjoy the view near the top of the long, steep, climb at 2,5km. The view over Lake Mongrain is breathtaking (hope you still have some breath left and not too much sweat in your eyes...)
After about 6km, you may choose to add 1km (500m down... and up) to your trip and visit the Devil's Fall. You'll be happy you did once you are lying in the refreshingly natural whirlpool... Just remember that you need to go back up. On race day, this is where the only aid station is located.
The last 4 km are fast and "mostly" downhill... You'll want to sell you soul to go back up and do it again...
Flora & Fauna
Dense mixed forest with the occasional small mammal and elusive bear ;-)
History & Background
The Devil's Fall is a narrow section of the Shawinigan River. When the water level is high, the area can be quite spectacular.
