Head north from Chesler Park on the sandy trail towards the needles rising majestically right in front of you. Reach the base of the needles after a third of a mile at the bottom of a boulder covered cleft between two massive needles. Once you make your way up, you get rewarded with amazing views of Devils Kitchen and you can even see the Island in the Sky in the far with its prominent Junction Butte and Grand View Point.

Continue down to the flat but narrow stretch of prairie framed on the left by what is known as the Devils Pocket. The sandy trail is oftentimes almost a foot deep. You pass the DP1 camp site at about 1.2 miles, but it's fairly well hidden and there are no signs. Reach Devils Kitchen after 1.6 miles.
