Description
This fairly remote trail is best reached by first taking a short jaunt on the
Isberg Trail. From the junction of the
Isberg Trail, cross the creek and follow the trail through pine forests. Two more creeks will be crossed before climbing to the edge of the North Fork San Joaquin River canyon.
Enjoy views of the Ritter Range and Minarets across the canyon and the High Sierra beyond. The trail will contour along the edge of the canyon going in to the forest before descending to the river. The trail is steep down to the river but in good condition. A bridge crosses the water with the trail continuing upstream.
The trail eventually climbs away from the river and goes through multiple meadows and streams. It joins the river again after a short ways, and continues to follow the water for the rest of the trail. Eventually the trail fades out at the end into wilderness surrounded by towering peaks and alpine lakes.
