Description
Start this lovely winter trail from Basecamp, where parking is available. You'll then head east toward Mazama. The trail is predominately flat with only one small hill: about 30' long and not much of a grade. those on snowshoes shouldn't have any problems, but it might take a bit of skill to navigate the hill on skis. In the winter months, this trail is well groomed, making this a fun and quick getaway that gives you a real "winter" feeling.
The trail winds through forested areas, meadows, and for a very short distance beside a rural road (Lost River Road). The views of the mountains are spectacular. The open meadows are beautiful.
When you reach the Goat Wall Loop, you can veer right for a more direct route to the Mazama Store and other businesses in Mazama including Goats Beard Mountain Supplies, Mazama Ranch House, Mazama Country Inn, the Ski School and more.
To return to your car, you can choose to reverse your path, take another route, or continue your exploration further east on the rest of the trail.
