Runner Notes

High grass in the summer can be a nuisance.

Description

Designed by Lt. Robert E. Lee, the historic dike system allowed for tide control and drainage which aided in the construction of Fort Pulaski. The two mile length trail circles Fort Pulaski, offering visitors unparalleled views of Cockspur Island and the Savannah River. High grass during the summer can make this trail bug-ridden in the spring and summer. The trail allows for a 360 degree viewing of the fort and surrounding area.

Flora & Fauna

Birds are abundant; watch for dolphins in the river.
