Description
The eastern segment of Laurel Bluffs Trail leads from Pump Station to Guess Road, following the Eno River upstream. The entire trail is part of the statewide Mountains-to-Sea Trail, though the trails overlap through the park.
From the Pump Station, Laurel Bluffs Trail follows the Eno River downstream. There are a surprising number of hills along the trail, heading up to bluffs high above the river, then down to cross rocky draws where small tributaries flow into the river.
Along the way, the trail passes several points of interest including Fish Dam Island, Gebel Rock, Panther Cliffs, and the ruins of Guess Mill Dam. The steep south-facing bluffs allow mountain flora to grow here, such as mountain laurel and rhododendron.
Flora & Fauna
Mountain laurel grow on the south-facing bluffs and bloom in early to mid May.
