The Oak Rock Trail is a short interpretive trail accessed from the Crabtree Creek side of the park. This trail is Umstead's TRACK Trail, part of the Kids in Parks Program to encourage outdoor activity. The trail features interpretive signs and a self-guided brochure to learn more about nature. The trailhead is at the first parking lot after the visitor center, the same as the trailhead for Pott's Branch Trail.

From the trailhead, bear left to take the loop in a clockwise direction. The trail crosses Sal's Branch and runs past the remains of an old dam and culvert. Past this point, the trail begins to loop back around. Near the end of the trail, it passes the Oak Rock, for which the trail is named. An oak tree is growing out of some huge rocks, a testament to the power of the trees. This is a great spot to stop for a break, take a picture, or climb around on the rocks. Continuing on, the trail loops back at to the start at the parking lot.

Oak, maple, beech and pine trees. Numerous species of wildflowers and also birds.
