Description
The second half of this trail can be accessed from the
Maud S. Loop. Upon reaching the top of that trail, the CDT access travels north east into the trees and wraps around the hill side. At this point, the trail proceeds to increase in grade as it tracks through the trees while climbing up. A long slow switchback makes way to a wooded ridge with 5 quick switchbacks.
The path then traverses across to the next hill and you'll eventually you'll happen upon 3 stairs that are the peak of the grade and on loose gravel and protruding rock. From there the trail turns back to to a wooded trek that climbs until you break onto a saddle and the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail (CDT) .
