Description

The remote Lamping Homestead is located in the Wayne National Forest and is home to a quaint camping area, picturesque hills and pines, and pond filled with salamanders and other creatures.

Traveling clockwise on the trail, be prepared for a short but fairly steep climb before it levels out and descends gently down and loops back to the pond and parking area. To increase your mileage, take the Lamping Long Loop junction after about a mile on the loop. Look out for the foundation of an old house in the trees.

The Knowlton Covered Bridge is also nearby and worth a visit. It's a short drive from the Lamping Homestead Recreation Area.
