Description
The Falls
Lake Trail is a 60-mile trail along the southern shore of Falls Lake and is a segment of the state-wide Mountains-to-Sea Trail. Section 2 starts the causeway over Honeycutt Creek on Raven Ridge Road. The trail heads into the woods following Honeycutt Creek as it flows into Falls Lake. The trail runs between the lake and some very large homes.
There are several other paths that provide access from adjacent neighborhoods or lead to the lake. Continue to follow the white blazes as you run to stay on the trail. The beautiful woods and lake will make you forget that you're just outside a major urban center.
In about 1.5 miles, you'll pass an old farm pond, a reminder of the area's agricultural history. As you approach the end of this section, you'll come out on Red Fox Run, a private gravel road. Be sure to stay on the road to avoid trespassing on private property. Follow this short road to the end of this section at the dead end of Possum Track Road, where Section 3 starts.
