Need to Know
There is hunting along the 4-mile section from Stony Creek Lake to Red Slide Park. Visitors should be on the alert and wear bright orange marking during fall hunting season.
Description
Along the Haw River Trail/MST (EB Miles 22.4 to 30.8; WB Miles 26.8 to 35.3), the route is marked with the MST blaze, 3" white plastic circles nailed to trees. Signs along the trail portion identify the route as Haw River Trail, and may not be marked as MST.
Along Hillsborough's Riverwalk/MST (EB Miles 49.2 to 50.5; WB Miles 7.2 to 8.7), the trail is blazed with white circles on metal sign posts. Follow the trail notes closely since the blazes extend along an unfinished section of the trail.
Between the Speedway and US 70 (EB Miles 52.1 to 53.1; WB Miles 4.5 to 5.5), the trail is blazed with 3-inch white circles painted on trees.
The road portions of this segment are not signed or blazed.

This MST segment is experiencing rapid changes as local governments and state parks acquire land for the future trail route. Friends of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail volunteer crews welcome your help to build and maintain the trail. Please contact Friends to get involved.
