This trail is currently not being maintained by the National Park Service because it houses critical habitat for the Cape Sable thoroughwort. The trail continues to be open, but visitors should be mindful of the potential for obstructions along the trail.

Description

Travel along the Rowdy Bend Trail's overgrown roadbed for an immersive experience in the woodlands that engulf so much of Everglades National Park.

Starting at the Rowdy Bend Trail Parking Area off Main Park Rd., wind your way through the forest, keeping your eyes peeled for wildlife, until reaching the junction with the Snake Bight Trail. At this juncture, visitors can either return the way they came, or for a more exciting trail experience, head right along the Snake Bight Trail.

Heading right, runners will eventually pop out of the forest and into Snake Bight (bight being another word for a small bay). Climb up on the boardwalk, and focus your attention on the waters in front of you, as often times large birds will come to wade in the shallows.

Flora & Fauna

Large birds can be seen along this trail if visitors trend right at the junction with the Snake Bight Trail.
