Runner Notes
Due to the nature and proximity of Bison, it's not recommended that you run on this specific trail, as you may startle a 1,000 lb animal.
Description
This short trail is one of the only places within the Wildlife Refuge where you're allowed to leave your car to roam with buffalo. From Summit Road, keep an eye out for a small pullout. The trailhead is easy to see, and the pull out is obvious.
The trail itself is an excellent place to get out of the car and stretch your legs. Keep in mind that you'll be entering into an open area with wild animals. It is important to keep the bison in mind as you make your way down the path. Take care not to startle the animals by talking or making other noise as you travel, and should you see one close up, just back away. Mostly, the animals will ignore your presence.
This is an amazing opportunity to be close with beautiful animals, but don't let their apparent docility fool you into thinking that they aren't wild.
Flora & Fauna
