Runner Notes
These trails vary in terrain and are scattered with small rocks, boulders, and roots. However, the elevation gain makes this an excellent place for a run.
Description
Access this trail from the large parking area and trailhead on Petaluma Hill Road. When entering the parking lot from Petaluma Hill Road, head left (north) for day passenger vehicle parking. RV &
Horse Trailer parking is offered by turning right (south) when entering the parking lot.
The trail begins along the north end of the parking lot next to the picnic benches and bathrooms. The trail jaunts through various small rocks while offering a variety of trees and wildlife. The trail acts as a gateway to the rest of Taylor Mountain so make sure to follow the signs and continue to loop around to the south end of the parking lot.
Open fields, perfect for picnics and sight-seeing, line the northeastern part of this trail. A nice 300-foot elevation gain gives you the momentum on the last leg to move through the final and most widespread views on this run. Remember these trails are four-legged friendly, including horse and dogs, as well as mountain bike friendly, so please be courteous to your fellow trail users.
