Runner Notes

Downed trees are possible. Take a map or use the Trail Run Project mobile app. Cell phone service may not be available here. There are some rocky technical sections and deep stream crossings.

Description

I recommend taking this trail counter-clockwise. The north side follows a ridge and descends towards the Allegheny Reservoir before turning south and staying up slope. Once you turn northeast expect stream crossings. In the spring, they can be knee deep. Then follow the stream valley amongst giant mossy boulders. The trail is stunning any time of year, as spring brings buds and flowers, and fall brings colorful leaves. There are a few technical spots, but overall the loop is quite enjoyable.
