Overview

This is a generally treacherous and technical course. Speed is useless; it requires high technical skill and careful patience. The route features a traverse of two valleys and finishes with the famed "Death Trail".

Need to Know

Three treacherous descents, three extended climbs.

Runner Notes

Extremely difficult descents. Be careful for falls.

Description

Start with 0.5 miles on the road before entering a winding, gently rolling bicycle trail. At 2.8 miles, the course drops off O'Shaughnessy Point for the first long, difficult descent: down K2. Cross the powerline trail to the bottom of Warpath Ridge to climb back to O'Shaughnessy (over 1 mile continuous climb). Drop off the Rest Shelter Trail and run down Arrowhead Trail for the second difficult descent. Traverse Arrowhead Trail around McKay Hollow Trail and climb in a clockwise direction to the top of Natural Well, before descending Natural Well to Crybaby Hill. Turn left at Crybaby and circle around to the Death Trail. Climb Death Trail and turn right to cross the overlook to the Amphitheater
