One sign states that the area is closed after sunset, and one map shows that the trail portion in the middle is closed during winter months.
Description
The Stroudwater Trail is an urban trail that follows along Stroudwater River. The route follows a path through mostly woodlands and along power line corridor. Residential areas can be found at both ends of the trail.
Keeping with the urban surroundings, the trail passes under the Maine Turnpike overpass at the Stroudwater River. The trail does run along the edge of some office/commercial/light industrial areas but if you're headed west, the trail departs to a more woodland area. There are parking lots at each end, as well as one near halfway point, making this trail easy to access.
This portion of trail is part of the larger Portland Trails network. Check their
website for more information.
