Description
The Lost Creek
Loop Trail departs the
Page Mill Trail and meanders through the woods. It meets up with a small stream that flows through the preserve, especially in the winter and early spring after it has been raining. It's a shaded run and provides you an opportunity for solitude and an escape from the noise along Page Mill Road.
As the trail departs the
Page Mill Trail, it climbs steeply through the woods toward the
Franciscan Loop Trail at roughly .2 miles. From here, the trail begins to descend toward the creek. It is a dirt trail that is covered in leaves, that makes for easy running toward the creek. The trail begins to descend more steeply through a switchback and brings you to the creek, which you hear before you see it if there is enough water. The creek continues its course downhill and begins to fall below the trail. The trail levels out before making its way around to the right and back toward
Page Mill Trail. The creek bed is well below the trail at this point. As the trail rounds the hill, it finally meets back up with the
Page Mill Trail. If you go to the left, the
Page Mill Trail descends toward Foothills Park but if you go straight, you can follow
Page Mill Trail back to the trailhead and then whatever path you need to get back to your car.
It is a nice run through the woods, providing solitude and quiet compared to some of the other trails in the preserve.
