Overview

This Panorama Point area trail is often overlooked and, consequently, you'll have more solitude.

Description

From the Mono Meadows Trailhead, descend the wooded hillside heading north. Upon arriving in the meadow, enjoy the wildflowers without disturbing the sometimes boggy terrain. Cross the wandering small creeks via logs. At the far end of the meadow, climb gently through more forest before emerging into a more open area with many downed trees. Mono Creek is a pleasant place to wade and explore the strange water carved indentations in the rocks here.

Continue though sparsely wooded terrain to just before the trail begins its downhill plunge to Illiouette Creek. In an open area here is a viewpoint providing visitors with distant views of Mount Starr King, Half Dome and Clouds Rest. Retrace your steps back to the parking area.

Flora & Fauna

Lodgepole pine, mushrooms, goldenrod.
