Description
The Frost Trail is a relatively short trail that takes you to the viewless summit of Galehead Mountain. Along the way you'll pass the Galehead Hut and two excellent spots for views.
This trail splits off from the
Garfield Ridge Trail and within 50 feet or so opens up to the Galehead Hut, a popular spot for hikers to stop. You may want to stop here to enjoy the views of South Twin Mountain, Mount Guyot and the Bonds.
Continue past the hut and after another couple hundred feet you'll come across a partial sort of clearing that provides views of the summit that you are hiking towards.
0.15 miles from the trailhead you'll reach a fork for the Twin
Brook Trail which goes down the mountain. Continue onward on the Frost Trail and soon you'll start to gain elevation. The elevation gain starts to level off right around when you reach the final viewpoint on this trail. This viewpoint provides excellent views looking back towards the Galehead Hut and the previously mentioned mountains.
Just another tenth of a mile or so will take you to the viewless summit which is marked by a small pile of rocks.
