Description
From the trailhead, head west through lush, mossy forest. The trail gently descends switchbacks to the first viewpoint which looks north along the coast at approximately 1.5 miles from the trailhead. The trail is nicely graded and well maintained to the first viewpoint.
After the overlook, the trail condition deteriorates. The trail can be muddy with many slippery tree roots and puddles, especially after a rain. Eventually, views open to the south as the trail skirts the southern cliffs of Cape Lookout, with spectacular views down the coast. Rewarding views open up out to the Pacific Ocean once you reach the end of the Cape.
Flora & Fauna
The trail presents great scenes of large cedars and firs cover with moss, as well as many fallen nurse logs.
