Runner Notes

Rocks and roots are particularly dangerous for ankles on this trail. During the late winter to early spring months the trail can be covered by fallen leaves, making it difficult to ascertain footing.

Description

The Big Piney Trail has 18 miles of trail that traverse a variety of Ozark terrain, scenery and vegetation types. Several scenic overlooks displaying rock outcroppings and hollow bottoms are located along the trail. Paddy Creek Campground, Big Piney Trail Camp, and Roby Lake Recreation Area are conveniently located on or near the trail.

The southern portion of the loop has two creek crossings.
