Careful of snow on trail in fall, winter, and spring.
Description
The Navaho Peak Trail can be reached through a variety of methods, but most will begin the journey on the
Stafford Creek Trail, starting at the trailhead of the same name. After climbing for a while on the
Stafford Creek Trail, runners will make a right at an intersection, heading east on the Negro Creek Trail for a short way, before the path to the summit of Navajo Peak branches off to the left, heading north.
Stop at Navaho Pass for views of the Enchantments and a quick bite to eat. To see Mt. Stuart, continue climbing up towards Navaho Peak. Reaching the summit is easily negotiable, but gets steeper than the trails experience in the early part of the day. Some trail descriptions describe it as a scramble, but it was an easy journey up without much exposure.
Make sure to bring water in the drier months as it may be limited.
