This trail starts out at Black Mountain Trailhead Parking area. Climb up a gravel doubletrack to the start of Miner's Ridge Loop. The trail signs point you in the counter clockwise direction. From here it's a switchback-filled and rocky climb to the intersection of the Glider Port Trail.

Curving to the left from here, the trail traverses the side of the mountain before intersecting with a spur trail to the Nighthawk Trail. Staying to the left you'll start the descent on some stairs and continue down the mountain. You'll pass two viewpoints, which make for an excellent stopping point. There will be another set of stairs before circling back to the start of the Miner's Loop. Descend the gravel doubletrack back to the parking lot.

Additions to this trail are to take the Glider Port Trail from the Black Mountain parking lot to the Glider Port parking lot. Also, taking the spur trail to Nighthawk Trail opens up the mountain to many other trails.
