The Dog Ridge Trail is either a strenuous climb, or a rapid descent, depending on which way you're headed. This ridge trail is characterized by a multitude of switchbacks connecting the South Boise Trail #101A and West Fork Rapid River Trail #113. While it would be difficult to tackle this route on its own, it enables visitors to make a loop outing instead of an out and back.
