Overview
This amazingly remote run takes adventurers through the heart of the High Uinta Wilderness. There are amazing views, peak climbing opportunities, wildlife, fishing, lakes—this one has it all! Begin at the Leidy Peak Trailhead (or for a shorter route begin at Chepeta Lake Trailhead). Follow the Highline Trail as it weaves over passes and aside lakes, often following dispersed cairns across meadows, tundra, and talus slopes.
Need to Know
This is an incredibly beautiful, remote, and challenging multi-day backpacking route that is up there with the Nation's best multi-day backpacks.
You'll need to either hire a shuttle or set a shuttle yourself. Driving between the start and end point is 3+ hours by car.
If you need to exit the hike before reaching the end, the trails on the North Slope of the Uintas will be your best bet. Each trail will eventually reach a parking lot that is likely to have people.
Do not depend on cellphone service during any of this hike.
