Overview
Like many trails in the area, the terrain is varied, and there are some nice rolling hills on this trail. This route is well shaded, as you'll be running under the thick canopy of the Kettle Moraine Forest. Parking and toilets are available at the trailhead.
There are other shorter loops that leave from this same area, allowing you to customize how short or long you want your run to be.
Description
These trails become cross-country ski trails in the winter, and visitors usually follow the skier's recommended direction, though the choice is yours. You'll make your way around the loop under the cover of the forest, but you won't have to worry too much about tripping over roots. The trail is not singletrack, but rather on a wider path which allows for winter grooming. The way is very easy to follow.
This route is gently rolling, but the majority of the elevation change will occur between miles 1-3 when taken counter clockwise. Enjoy spending time weaving your way through the dense trees, as the everyday fades away. Eventually, the loop will return you to your vehicle and the trailhead.
Flora & Fauna
Mosquitoes can be a problem in the summer, and you'll want to check for ticks at the end of your outing.
