Description
This trail as shown leads from the Marshall Saddle junction and continues downhill to the Mount Lemmon Trail. It's as often done the reverse direction as part of a loop coming from the top of the Ski Valley, down the Mt. Lemmon Trail and up Wilderness of Rock to Marshall Saddle. The Lemon Lookout Trail is about at the halfway point of the Wilderness of Rock Trail and can also link up these two trails.
From Marshall Saddle, the Wilderness of Rock Trail heads west and predominantly downhill through the forest. There are numerous stream crossings which vary in their water levels depending on the time of the year. The trail itself isn't too technical at all, as most of the rocks encountered are larger sized and smoother boulders. Because of these boulders there are some areas where attention is needed to route finding. However, it's pretty intuitive and there are cairns in spots to keep you on the right path. This route is also pretty well trafficked and generally in good condition. It's a fun trail but can be hotter than other trails in the summertime, so plan accordingly.
