Overview

Great overlooks of Newbury Park and Camarillo highlight this mostly fireroad/poleline road trail. On clear days, Channel Islands and Ventura are visible.

Description

This route is an out and back that starts in Newbury Park, on the Powerline Trail, and ends overlooking Camarillo. The route provides beautiful views and mostly friendly terrain. Most of the route is on a wide doubletrack road used by the SCE, but the final bit is a singletrack that is mostly on the ridge line.

The entrance to the Mount Conejo Summit Trail is hidden, so be aware when approaching the top of the hill. The Mount Conejo Summit Trail is at the inside corner before the top of the hill on the Powerline Trail. The peak is marked as Private Property with permission for those on foot. You can often see hang gliders launching from just lower than the peak over Camarillo.
