Description

One of the the more family friendly trails on Nebo Loop, the Grotto Trail is an easy jaunt that engages many of the senses. There are both coniferous and deciduous trees throughout the running experience. The trail is a gradual ascent that weaves around a stream that is always running. You'll cross half log bridges that criss-cross over the stream all along the run.

The trail ends at a cavernous area with a respectable waterfall, approximately 25 feet high. The flow of the waterfall depends on the time of year, but you can always expect a picturesque scene. There is a trail that leads to the top of the waterfall but it is quite steep and appears to be more of a game trail that follows the stream. The water depth at the bottom of the waterfall can fluctuate from a few inches to a couple of feet, so be prepared!

Flora & Fauna

The fall is a fantastic time to enjoy this run as the bright colors of yellow, orange and red, mixed with the green pine trees offers a wonderful retinal experience.
