Runner Notes

Well-maintained trails but there are lots of rocky ankle twisters.

Description

From the parking lot head to the information booth past the toilets. Continue past the information booth to the trailhead. If you always stay left whenever you encounter a trail junction you'll keep on the trail.

You begin with a steady climb on switchbacks through oak forests. Eventually, the trail flattens out and then trends down toward the river where you'll meet the river at a large boulder. Continue along the river until you find some built in stairs that head up past an old quarry. (There's a sign that says 'no climbing or rappelling' but the rock quality is so weak and fractured who would want to?) The stairs eventually flatten out, and you pass around to the other side of the mountain which features some mixed pine forest.
