Runner Notes

A wide, dirt path/fire road with a sustained climb to the high point of the park and a meandering descent heading west.

Description

This fire road, doubletrack trail stretches between Rolling M Ranch in the east and the Metropolitan Water District at the west end of the park. This can be a very challenging trail for folks who aren't in good physical condition as it has a fairly sustained climb up San Juan Hill to the highest point in the park at 1,780'. That said, the effort is rewarded with stunning 360° views and a nice, 5+ mile descent to the west end of the trail and park.

Similar to other ridgeline trails, there is sparse tree cover, so take any necessary precautions with sun protection and water, especially in the warmer months of the year.
