Description
This is a short, relatively flat trail that starts from the picnic area, across the parking lot from the visitors center. There trailhead is marked along with a map. The trail is a loop. It is marked about every 1/4 mile with distance markers. According to the markers, the trail is 1.33 miles long.
The trail winds through a mixed hardwood/conifer forest typical of the region. It is mostly compact dirt, but there are a few roots and some rocky areas. Nothing difficult to cross.
The trail includes interpretive signs and markers on different tree species. There are plenty of benches to stop and rest. There is ample opportunity to view wildlife.
About 1/3 around the loop is a connection to the
24 Gun Trail
