Description
The Wolf Rock Trail might be a strenuous climb, but the views from the top are well worthwhile. From the top, visitors will be able to gaze out over three distinct watersheds, all separated by ridgelines. Bullhead Creek, Garden Creek, and Widow's Creek drainages can all be picked out from your vantage point at the top of Wolf Rock.
While you're taking your time climbing this trail, note the changing forest that surrounds the trail. The route begins in a predominantly pine forest before moving higher in elevation to a more mixed assemblage forest, and finally coming to an end in an area dominated by mature hardwoods. Especially in the fall, the colors of the leaves changing contrasts nicely with the dark greens of the pine forests.
Once you've taken your time to enjoy the views from the top of Wolf Rock, you can continue on the
Blackjack Ridge Trail, or return the way that you came.
