Runner Notes

Short and strenuous, this route would be a great way to get your heart rate up!

Description

This moderate route is another method of reaching the summit of Wolf Rock, and the Cedar Rock Trail seems to be a happy medium between the strenuous Wolf Rock Trail and the longer but milder Blackjack Ridge Trail. The route doesn't lead all the way to Wolf Rock but will bring runners to the ridgeline just before the final push to the summit.

During the forested portions of the trail, the tree assemblage framing the trail will be similar to both the Wolf Rock Trail and the Blackjack Ridge Trail, beginning in pines, and ending in hardwood. However, there will be more exposed travel on this route, and runners will need to cross over some sections of bare rock on the way to the top of the ridgeline.

Carry on your way, and you'll soon find yourself at the three-way intersection that marks the end of this route. Continue on the Wolf Rock Trail for more spectacular views, or head down the Blackjack Ridge Trail for a relaxing descent to the valley bottom.

Flora & Fauna

Both pine and hardwood forests adorn the path, and squirrels, deer, and birds will likely keep you company along the way.
