Gates surround the radio towers on both peaks. Do not trespass.
Runner Notes
Rocky and steep, this isn't a great trail for beginners, but provides an excellent workout.
Description
After parking at the base of the access road, hike past the gate and immediately into a steep, uphill climb. The trail continues on BLM land where running is allowed but camping is not. Continue mostly uphill for the next mile. Right before the top of the first climb, you'll reach several sets of switchbacks that continue to the top of the saddle. Once atop the saddle, the trail descends for about 0.25 miles before climbing up even higher than before.
The second big uphill climb ends with another few sets of switchbacks. After the switchbacks, you reach one peak with several radio towers on top. The trail continues to a second peak about 0.25 miles away. Once you make it to this second peak with the radio towers, you have made it to the top of Frenchman Mountain. Gates surrounding the radio towers restrict any running past this point. Once at the peak, enjoy the best views of Henderson and Las Vegas, then follow the trail back the same way you came to get back to the trailhead.
