Runner Notes
This is not a great canyon to run through, as the slippery tread can prove dangerous to those moving at speed. Nonetheless, it's well worth slowing down and running through it. You simply cannot miss the views it provides.
Description
Step into Tonty Canyon and prepare to be immersed in an experience that you won't soon forget.
While the canyon is short, it makes up for it by providing stunning views of falling water draping over verdant walls of moss-covered sandstone. If you are at all a photographer, give yourself plenty of time to take photos in this canyon, as you'll not want to leave once you arrive. If you come after heavy rains, double cascades are likely to be your subject matter.
While running through the canyon, watch your footing, as the sandstone on which the trail travels can often be slippery from the spray.
Flora & Fauna
Multiple varieties of deciduous tree coupled with abundant moss creates a vibrant green backdrop to this charming canyon.
