Overview
This is a great run option along the more manageable north shore section of trail at Lake Georgetown. There are some undulations in the trail that add up to a good amount of elevation gain (~800+ ft) with access to two parking areas and facilities.
Need to Know
In addition to runners, you'll also encounter campers, hikers, runners, and mountain bikers. Overall, an enjoyable trail.
Description
This run heads north and west on a moderate to easy section of the
Goodwater Loop Trail. The trail goes completely around Lake Georgetown for a total of 26 miles, however, this out-and-back adds up to a little more than half of that while still giving a good sense for the terrain around the lake.
There are four Army Corps of Engineers parks along the trail that have water, and three have bathroom facilities. The north shore section is just a bit easier than the south shore trail section. There are no extremely difficult hills or trail sections.
Flora & Fauna
Cedar/juniper, oak, typical grasses and other vegetation. Deer, squirrel, rabbits, and an occasional snake.
